Valentine’s Day 2016: love at first digital sight

01 February 2016

Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk’s new Valentine’s campaign ‘Command Cupid’ starts today, that puts the spotlight on giving flowers in an innovative way. Advanced communications technology now makes it possible to make your (secret) love’s heart beat a little faster by giving them a flower.

Command Cupid
In 2015 over 4 million people saw how the Cupidrone spread love. This year we are again sending out a modern Cupid to spread love using the latest technology: Periscope.  Our contemporary Cupid has one goal: to help love at first sight achieve that crucial next step.  He wanders the streets equipped with a high-tech bow with a smartphone and built-in camera, looking for love at first digital sight.

If a potential love interest is spotted on camera, Command Cupid! He will present a rose to your Valentine on the spot on your behalf. The best thing is that the reactions can be viewed live via Periscope.  And just because you're not in one of these cities, doesn't mean you can't find love there -you can participate by downloading the Periscope App and command Cupid yourself!  Who knows what love is in store for you, starting with a rose!

International reach
Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk is launching the Valentine’s campaign in the Netherlands, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.  An inspiring online video will reach a wide audience. The campaign will seek to achieve a wide reach on various media networks such as YouTube and social media. An event is being organised in both Germany and France where the public can participate and experience the technology for themselves. A live stream enables them to instruct Cupid to give a rose to someone that they spot in Cupid’s vicinity.

Flowers make you happy
The Valentine’s campaign reinforces the idea that giving and receiving flowers brings great happiness. In the days when people mainly communicate via the Internet, giving someone real flowers is much more personal than an online message.

Old school, new style
Cupid’s a cliché? We don’t think so! This online video shows how Cupid can still make many hearts flutter in 2016.  Giving a red rose on Valentine’s Day might be as old as the hills, but with this campaign, the Flower Council of Holland shows that it’s still the way to bring the biggest smile to someone’s face.
