The flowers from The Trend Collection autumn/winter 2021

01 July 2021

Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk and Thejoyofplants.co.uk will be presenting the new Trend Collection autumn/winter 2021 on 1 September. Sixteen flowers, houseplants and garden plants that fit with trends in interiors, lifestyle and fashion in terms of product characteristics and look.

A better world full of (bio)diversity
The Trend Collection autumn/winter 2021 is based on the Balanced Biotype trend. Consumers want to contribute to a better world and its biodiversity. That diversity is reflected very literally in this collection, with six flowers that show how multifaceted Nature is. Diversity which is emphasised further by combining fresh flowers with dried flowers.

The six flowers
The flowers in the autumn/winter collection are:

Rose
Forget about fiery red and opt for nude, yellow, orange and cream petals. If you choose floribunda roses, you can bring even more buds indoors. If the rose is also scented, you will truly get to enjoy nature in all its glory.

Limonium
There's something delicate and tender about this flower. Limonium has petals that appear to be made of ingeniously folded paper. The slender branches also lend a cloud of colour to any bouquet. With this Trend Collection we're opting for Limonium in lilac, purple and soft shades of pink. Top tip: dry the flowers to enjoy Limonium for even longer.

Gloriosa
Nature shows off its versatility with this work of art. With its dancing flowers full of yellow accents, Gloriosa brings an elegant cheerfulness to this collection. This natural star will steal the show, whether it's in a bouquet or on its own in a small vase. Transport it carefully and place the flower in a nice cool spot to ensure that you and your Gloriosa can spend a long time in each other’s company.

Amaryllis
Its symbolism of pride and its long stems mean that the Amaryllis stands above everything else - but it's also soft, with velvety petals in pale, salmon pink tones. Opt for plain petals or petals with a stripe, either in the traditional shape or with narrow, spikier flowers.

Eryngium
The blue thistle is the most rugged entrant in the floral Autumn/Winter collection. With its prickly stem and often spiky sepals around the bullet-shaped flower, it appears to be protecting the other flowers. The blue-purple colour of this flower represents the cool shades within the Trend Collection.

Polianthes tuberose
No flower collection is complete without scent, this is provided by the white tuberose. This Mexican beauty particularly releases its sultry and sweet fragrance notes at night - the same notes that often crop up in floral perfumes. By filling the room with scent, you'll be reminded of nature's grandeur.

How we are promoting the campaign
The Trend Collection is being rolled out in our four core countries, and supported with an online Lookbook that offers extra visual inspiration to accompany the collection. In addition, we are promoting the collection with media, PR and appealing content. There is also Point of Sale material available for retailers with this campaign. Additional inspirational and informative content and images can be found on Funnyhowflowersothat.co.uk, Thejoyofplants.co.uk and the associated social media channels. This is the third trend collection since the launch in 2020. The next trend collection will appear in March 2022.

Downloads: images and display tips
On the shop floor you can highlight the flowers from the collection through the way in which you display them. Use vases made of natural materials such as ceramics. The shapes can be organic and imperfect and the colours should be natural, such as terracotta, brown and green.
